Uncover an Adventurer’s Paradise
Marburg – Ingeli
If you’re looking for outdoor adventure, look no further than the KZN South Coast! Cliffs, cascading waterfalls, lagoons, and nature reserves set the backdrop for the ultimate adventure. First up is the 8km Weza Hiking Trail starting in the iKhwezi rural area. A trained local guide will take you across two amaKhosi areas before finishing at the Mkhoba Waterfall.
The nearby farming town of Harding, set against the Ingeli Mountain Range, provides you with direct access to the scenic Ingeli Forest. There are a variety of hiking and running trails through the forest, from 18 to 30 kilometres, taking you past resident wildlife, birding, streams, and waterfalls.
Thrill-seekers will enjoy a trip to Oribi Gorge which is teeming with local wildlife inhabiting grasslands, wetlands, and coastal forests. Get harnessed into the Wild Gorge Swing, the highest swing of its kind in the world! Here you jump off Lehr’s Waterfall and drop 55 stories (securely strapped of course!).
You could also abseil down the 110-metre cliff face alongside the waterfall, or embark on the Wild Slide – a ziplining adventure 165 metres above the treetops. Don’t forget to try the 84-metre suspension bridge, 100 metres off the ground.
Enjoy a safari at Lake Eland Game Reserve where you can encounter wildlife in their natural habitat. Have an up-close experience on a game drive, go hiking, mountain biking, or even horse riding. There’s also a dedicated 4×4 track for the adventurous at heart!
Coffee lovers can get a fix of delectable 100% Arabica at Thornton Coffee. Originally a sugar plantation, this family-run coffee farm produces the most delicious beans for a uniquely African-flavoured brew.
Bird watchers cannot miss the chance to visit the Vultures View Hide near Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. This is an ecologically significant site where the endangered Cape Vultures gather to feed, mate and nest – all of which can be safely viewed by birders.
Adventure awaits you on the KZN South Coast!
